Favorite Friday: YouTubers of 2019… So Far

Blog Updates

Favorite Friday is a meme in which I discuss some of my favorite things. Some Fridays it’ll be based on a topic, while others it’ll just be about some of my recent favorites.

I love YouTube. I regularly watch a couple hours’ worth of videos every day. That may sound excessive, but I don’t see it as any different from binge-watching a TV show or having a movie marathon.

I have a lot of YouTubers and channels that I love. Too many to name, in fact. So today I’m going to talk about the YouTube channels I discovered so far this year that made me hit that subscribe button.

  1. The Right Opinion

What I like about The Right Opinion is that he takes YouTube issues and looks at them through an analytical and logical lens. His channel isn’t about the drama, it’s about dissecting why something happened and critically considering the actions of others. It’s incredibly fascinating and I really appreciate his approach.

  1. Ask a Mortician

I’ll be honest, this channel is the reason I decided to write this post. I am obsessed with her videos. And it’s incredibly out of my wheelhouse. I’m a big fan of commentary channels and book, film, and music discussion channels. Ask a Mortician is all about the dead. But I am absolutely hooked on her videos.

Caitlin Doughty’s delivery is personable and respectful. She is genuinely passionate about the dead and how we regard them. My favorite videos of hers are the Iconic Corpse series and when she discusses what happened to the bodies after a tragic event (like the Titanic). I can’t stop telling everyone I know about how awesome her channel is.

  1. Mr. Atheist

Mr. Atheist is cool because he’s able to combat religious ideologies with insider knowledge. He grew up Mormon, but is now an out-and-proud pansexual atheist. He’s also fantastic at debating. I’ve only just started following his content, but I’m already a big fan.

  1. Jack Saint

And here we have the latest film commentator I’ve subscribed to. He does a lot of long-form content about the politics of movies and other film analysis and criticism. And he’s able to do it with a humorous twist. But what else can you expect from the guy who made a video about the political implications of talking dog movies?

  1. Jaclyn Glenn

I like Jaclyn because she discusses atheist issues and other social or Youtube issues. I also just really like her personality and may have a lowkey crush on her. Also her hair is awesome.

Do you like any of these channels? What are some of your favorite YouTube channels you’ve discovered this year? Tell me about them in the comments!
